Rock Climbing is another challenging sport for outdoor lovers. Most of the areas for rock climbing are situated toward the north of Kathmandu Valley in the vicinity of the Nagarjun forest and the Shivapuri Watershed and Wildlife reserve. Because one is a national park and the other a protected area, trip to these places can be combined with hiking, bird watching and other activities. Nagarjun, 3 KMs from Kathmandu city can be reached via Balaju near the Bus Park, Shivapuri, can be reached via Budhanilkantha which is 9 KMs from Kathmandu.
Mission Everest Trek organized Rock climbing and advance training in Balaju, also known as the Raniban. It is the forested hill which lies to the northwest of the Swayambhunnath. The climbing place here is located inside the Royal Forest and is suitable for both beginners and regulars. The limestone face is about 10 to 15 meters high, and there are several piton-equipped routes

To get there, take a taxi to Balaju gate 3 km from downtown Kathmandu and then walk to the park entrance. From the gate, follow the dirt road to a point just before the army check post where you will come across a track leading to the right. Follow this trail through trees and shrubs for about 25 minutes take to go rock climbing place there more then 17 several piton for climbing route.
